RIP Nate At Night - A Best Of Montage With All The Best Memories
Every great show must come to an end. All the best athletes want to go out in their prime. Nate At Night came in, made a splash, and now is gone as quick as it came. Davey “Lorne Michaels if Lorne Michaels inserted himself into every single sketch” Portnoy said nope, I don’t care if a million people like it, I don’t like it so it won’t be a show. Didn’t want to give it a chance to develop, to become what it has potential to be. Clearly it needed some work, I talked to KFC, who is a podcast genius, for like 45 minutes about how to plan out, run, and operate a podcast after episode 1, but none of those awesome ideas will see the light of day. I guess as the old saying goes “the first episode has to be the best thing ever, you don’t get any time to work on it or try new things”. That’s why every podcast is a grand slam after episode 1. That’s why Dave’s is the greatest thing ever, those 12-16 year olds calling in are podcast gold and not awful at all.
We shall overcome though. Every phoenix rises. Maybe I’ll just get back to my roots with 2am Periscopes. The thing is, I don’t want my podcast to be all about Dave. How are we supposed to build new stars to the moon the team the team the team bunanaland herpe eyes if everything revolves around 1 person? That’s the struggle. But we shall overcome.
PS: Intern Ria was legit in tears by the end of that video. Loud Sean editing in me talking about building it up and getting better week after week was so perfect. Gone but hopefully not gone forever. But for now, Nate at Night says later gators.
